Having a trip to Jerusalem is like giving your children the greatest kind of Sunday school experience. Treat it as a hands-on educational field trip. Everything will come alive the very instant kids set eyes on the rich and ravishing Bible-like setting of this city. If children are much exposed to this kind of places understanding the stories behind the Bible will be more interesting and fun perking up every bit of curiosity that lies in their young minds. For example, if a child wishes to see the Biblical places King Herod had built then go ahead and show them around places such as The Wailing Wall and the temples he built before it. Taking them further to Bethlehem may also be possible since it is eight kilometers away from Jerusalem.
And who said learning and travel is plain boring in this city? Jerusalem can very well spell fun through the various activities and events they have on their lists. Kids can get to choose from a wide range of camps and workshops. They even have this ChoQola Chocolate Workshop wherein kids can make their own praline, lollipops and bars. They also get to learn how to melt chocolate the right way. The workshop can even be contacted to come to the hotel or apartment a kid stays in. Most especially if the place is accessible enough such as the Colony Suites in German Colony Jerusalem which offers great vacation apartments. Now just how fun is that?
Jerusalem is also known to have lots of festivals going on throughout the year such as the Hebrew Book Festival wherein they put up great sales on extensive selections at the Book Festival in Gan Hapaamon and what could be more thrilling than having no admission fee at all? They also have the splendid Jerusalem Light Festival in the Old City. Both of these festivals happen in June. August is filled with about five festivals all month long such as the Israel Museum Kite Festival, Children’s Film Festival, International Puppet Festival, Chutzot Hayotzer Art Festival and Jerusalem Theater End of Summer Festival. One interesting month though would be November wherein they celebrate the Jerusalem Knights Festival.
A lot of kids can look forward to the Passover (Pesach) activities as well. These include exhilarating stuff like Rappelling (Snappling) outside the Old City Walls, riding a Jerusalem ATV or all terrain vehicle, astronomy activity and bike tour in Pesach in Gush Etzion and taking the longest zipline in the Middle East in Deerland Adventure Park. Could not get enough? It seems like Jerusalem never runs out of activities to hype up the kids and is really perfect for worthwhile usage of any kid’s energy and stamina. Taking the children to a Jerusalem holiday experience will definitely give a whole lot of different meaning to Sunday’s Bible studies.
